Professor Vineet R. Kamat has been named as the 2017 recipient of the Distinguished Professor Award from the Construction Industry Institute (CII).

The award “recognizes the most outstanding university faculty member incorporating published CII research findings in the courses that they teach.” The criteria emphasizes introduction of newly published research each year and a sustained emphasis over multiple years. Kamat was cited for not only making CII research findings part of the CEE curriculum but also working with the ASCE Construction Research Congress to introduce a track dedicated to CII findings. Professor Kamat will be presented with the award during the CII Annual Conference in Orlando in August.

“The Construction Industry Institute, based at The University of Texas at Austin, is a consortium of more than 130 leading owner, engineering-contractor, and supplier firms from both the public and private arenas. These organizations have joined together to enhance the business effectiveness and sustainability of the capital facility life cycle through CII research, related initiatives, and industry alliances. A learning organization with a wealth of knowledge and information, CII is unique in the engineering and construction industry.”
